Question Why invest with The Internet IFA?

Question Fund Manager Charges?

top of page

Answer As an Independent Financial Adviser Internet IFA would normally receive an initial commission from the fund manager.  This would be paid out of any initial charge the fund manager levies.  This charge varies from manager to manager and from product to product.  If the commission we receive is less than the fund manager charge you will still have to pay this charge from your investment. Further, it is normal for the fund manager to levy an annual charge.  This will normally be deducted from your investment, however, full details of these charges will be outlined in the Key Features documentation of the fund manager.

In the case of lump sum investments you will receive either the value of the initial investment or, if the investment value has dropped, the current market value.

top of page

Question Penalties for early encashment?

top of page

Answer Individual fund managers may, normally in the case of investment bonds, apply an early termination charge. These will be disclosed fully in the Key Features documentation.  In the case of funds where there are no initial charges  but an exit charge on early encashment, a reduction in this charge will normally be applied in lieu of any commission rebate.

Question Mission statement?

top of page

Answer To provide unrestricted  access to all investment products without charging our clients an initial commission.
Question What is the catch?

top of page

Answer You make your investment free of any initial commission payment to The Internet IFA. If the fund manager pays a renewal commission to Internet IFA out of the annual charge applied to the investment,  this will be retained by Internet IFA.  Full details of all charges are outlined in the Key Features documentation of each investment product.
Question Why no initial commission?

top of page

Answer We have a passionate believe everyone should have access to all types of financial products without having to pay any initial commission to a independent financial adviser (IFA) if no advice is required.
Question Is all initial commission rebated?

top of page

Answer All initial commission which would normally be received by Internet IFA is rebated directly back to the investment contract either by way of a reduction in total charges, purchase of additional units or a reduction of any exit penalties.  If the initial investment charge levied by the fund manager is greater than the discount applied by Internet IFA you will still pay the fund manager the difference.  If the fund manager pays a renewal commission to Internet IFA out of the annual management charge applied to the investment,  this will be retained by Internet IFA.  Full details of all charges are outlined in the Key Features documentation of each investment product.

The only exception to the above is where, in the case of a limited number of Unit Trusts and ISAs, there is no initial charge to you, the client.  In this situation some of the providers insist that, where there is no charge to you, then they cannot, logically,  rebate a charge that has not been applied. If, exceptionally, there is still a marketing allowance due to the intermediary which is not reflected in any form of charge or exit penalty to the client, we have no option but to accept it.
Question Will the Fund Manager still have charges?

top of page

Answer Generally yes. While we will transact without taking an initial commission payment, the vast majority of fund managers will still apply some form of initial investment charge. This can vary from zero to 3%.  You will still be liable to pay this charge from your investment.

Normal annual charges will still apply for all fund managers. These vary from manager to manager but are disclosed in the Key Features documentation of each product.  Should any renewal commission be due to Internet IFA this will be included in the annual charge.

Question Do we handle client money?

top of page

Answer We never handle client money for investments. All investment cheques must be made out to the fund manger concerned. In the event of a cheque being made out to  Internet IFA this will be returned immediately.
Question How do we make our money?

top of page

Answer Fund Managers will charge an annual management charge for investments.  Some, but not all, fund managers will pay a "renewal commission"  to Internet IFA from this annual charge.  If a contract is cancelled before any renewal commission is payable, no renewal commission will normally be received by Internet IFA except where a fund manager distributes such renewal commission on a daily pro-rata basis for the length of time the investment was actually held. Full details of all charges and any commissions due to Internet IFA are disclosed in the Key Features documentation of all investment types.
Question What if I want to Change funds?

top of page

Answer All funds are subject to fluctuations. By using the Internet IFA you get the facility to change as often as you want without incurring any expenses for advice or initial commissions.  Normal fund manager charges will still apply to all switches and will be disclosed in the Key Features documentation of each product.
